Let me ask you about Stillwell Avenue, how many stations is that? By your definition it's four, most folks would argue that it's one. Stillwell is four seperate terminals in one station complex.

Chambers/WTC/HT is one structure all built at the same time, while the BMT Canal Sts are different structures, they opened a few days apart. It's semantics, nothing more. Let me ask you about Stillwell Avenue, how many stations is that? By your definition it's four, most folks would argue that it's one. I haven't the slightest idea. I was there once a few years ago during some phase of construction. Can you go down any of the lines that terminate there, make a U, and go up another? Even Queensboro Plaza is two stations

Arriving N and D trains can be put onto any track in the station, thereby allowing them to go out on the D, F, N & Q. Arriving Q trains can be put onto N or Q tracks, thereby allowing them to go out on the D, N & Q Arriving F trains can ONLY arrive on the F platform, allowing them to go out as an D, F or N. Trolleys from New Jersey would cross the bridge and terminate in that station. What bridge? Ruben

Of course they're only one station. They are the two directions of a single line. Times Square is 4 stations (5 if you want to include 42 St on the Eighth Avenue line). Canal St. BMT is 2 stations, and Chambers St/WTC is 2 stations. It's not worth arguing semantics. There are different definitions of what constitutes a station when you try to count up the 480 something stations. Canal is in fact four stations, Three BMT - bridge, tunnel and Nassau One IRT - Lexington That's not helpful wrt the Chambers St. A-C E situation. The Park Place 2-3 station is not relevant to the question. Why not, it's the same thing. All those stations are under one fare control. Why separate the Canal Sts and not the WTC/Chambers. It all depends on what you want to define as a station. Because the only question on the table was whether Chambers and WTC are one or two stations. No one denies that Park Place is a separate station from the two IND stations. If fare control is to be the only criterion, then the entire PATH system was a single station on Centennial Day, 28 Feb. 2008, when rides were free throughout. Chambers/WTC/HT is one structure all built at the same time, while the BMT Canal Sts are different structures, they opened a few days apart. It's semantics, nothing more.
