What is your definition of 'insignificant'? Prostate cancer only got 7 per cent of the money that went into researching breast cancer. ahh, I see. So if we only spent 7% of the money that went into researching prostate cancer on researching breast cancer that would be OK so long as a dollar amount can be named...? What this says is that for every $14-$15 spent on breast cancer research only $1 gets spent on prostate cancer. Add into this 0$ is spent on screening for prostate cancer but women get FREE breast screening, FREE cervical smears. Now feel free to tell me why this is fair ? Next tell me why it is unfair that womens income (supposedly ) is lower than mens by what 10% and it is unacceptable, but it is acceptable to have reserach funding into a mens only cancer lower by 93%, why it is acceptable to have 98% of workplace DEATHS being men with no outcry, why 64% of ALL cancer victims are MEN, yet there is less funding for men ? I'm a bit puzzled about this. My GP gives me a form which I take to the lab, a nurse draws off a sample and I go on my way. At about the same time the GP does the old digital bit, and, since I have to go once a year anyway, getting the form and the finger and checking weight and BP are all done in minutes in one consultation, which is peanuts. All this has cost virtually zilch and that's the prostrate screening done for this year - so what's the problem?

Wouldn't it be nice to have something like guardicill for men, you know, get a jab at age 13-16 and you are protected from prostate cancer, it may be possible... if they funded research.

What money is going into research?   Gardasil prevents HPV viral infection, the virus that causes 90% of cervical cancer Prostate cancer is not caused by a virus that can be immunised against

Your figures are wrong.  52% of cancer deaths are male, about the same as the male population.  that seems to be to be an equality of sorts, in death, if thats what you need to feel life is fair. and you stats are where....??? I posted the URLs where I go mine from, I presume you read them ? My stats are from the NZ Statistics department

I must say you have a marvellous facility for ignoring my disproving of your 'facts' thus far

snip the usual feminist drivel that MEN ALONE have to fix what's wrong with them ON THEIR own, becaue that's what women *had to do.* Men will have to get off their bums and work if they want improvements.  A nation-wide campaign to raise funds for a research scholarship would also raise consciousness, especially if it included I gave already lapel stickers saying something like I'm not too chicken to get checked . IOW women have rights, men have responsibilities.... Tell all of the above to your Father, brother, son, uncle, husband, etc when they diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer, because they did NOT have the free prostate cancer screeening that could have diagnosed the condition BEFORE it became incurrable..... There is no appropriate screening tool for prostate cancer at this time
