How many grams of protein, carbos and fat per meal..   How bout eggdrop soup...  Chinese food (the kind you get in America) is VERY high in fat and  sodium (and MSG).  Last month I was getting some Chinese food from an  elderly chinese couple who own a converted delivery truck that they sell  food from.  I though Chinese Vegetables over steamed rice would be  nice and low-fat.  To my surprise he took the vegetables and dumped them  into the deep-fryer!  From there they were tossed into a pan with some  magic sauce and poured over the rice.  I ate it anyway and felt sick the  rest of the day, as if I had eated a double order of fries or something.   I haven't touched the stuff since.  BTW, that nice crispy chicken?  Fried TWICE.
Yeah, I heard AMERICAN Chinese food is the absolute worst thing you could eat, but that's only because we eat the wrong portions. That's what I heard on the news, anyway... I don't eat Chinese food, though.

: Anybody know if Chinese food (such as Hunan Chicken or Chicken Broccoli.. : etc) is good for you? How many grams of protein, carbos and fat per meal.. : How bout eggdrop soup... : And the reason I m asking, of course, is because I have a Chinese meal once : a day..every day... : Thanks! : -Chris Lot of good followups, but I'll throw my few cents in anyways. Most of the typical chinese food you get in these chinese restaurants here in the US is crap.  A local Philly news show said that a lot of the top menu items on local Philadelphia chinese restaurents had more fat, salt and cholesterol than a Burger King Whoppers!   A lot of this chinese food is just NOT even remotely healthy!  Hell, I left some leftover vegetarian hot and sour soup in the fridge once and it was SLUDGE.  I love the taste, but couldn't eat it once I saw the sludge. These days I'll get something like steamed white rice with steamed vegetables and some type of not-oil tofu (steamed, baked).  (I'm a vegetarian, so not much advice on meat.)  The sauce is always a killer.  And just make sure you say steamed a lot.

Chinese food (the kind you get in America) is VERY high in fat and sodium (and MSG). What's wrong with MSG? While in college my roommate was from China.  Each meal he ate lots of rice and just a little meat (1 or 2 ounces).  His opinion of American Chinese food was that it fit Americans perfectly: More is better .  Most people ate WAAAY too much food when they dine at Chinese resturants (take a look at the number of extremely fat people in the buffet line). I work with several Chinese people and when we eat at most American restaurants they complain that the portion sizes are too small.  So, they always suggest Chinese restaurants to get the larger portions.   BTW, some of us are dieting and you're making me HUNGRY!  Where's my General Tso's chicken?  :- John Gunstream This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Science is a set of cognitive and behavioral methods designed to describe and interpret observed or inferred phenomena, past or present, aimed at building a testable body of knowledge open to rejection or confirmation.
