I posted these questions quite a while ago, but I don't see them on the board; I figured that maybe I didn't send them like I thought.......here goes............. 1.  What do you think about the lose quick diets such as New Mayo Clinic Diet and the Cabbage soup diet? 2.   What exactly are ketones (ketosis?) and are they dangerous? 3.  How effective is a low-carb high-protein diet? Side effects? Would a low-fat low-sugar diet be more effective? Quicker? Slower? 4.   What are some effective, cheap, fast-acting, over-the-counter diet meds? 5.  If I want to lose weight as quickly as possible without surgery, what are my best (cheapest) options? Sorry about all the questions but after perusing through tons of webpages I can't seem to get _object_ive opinions rather than conflicting ones. TIA K

5.  If I want to lose weight as quickly as possible without surgery, what are my best (cheapest) options? Starvation is the cheapest. (just kidding) Pick a diet and stick with it. One advantage of a hi-pro diet is less hunger, therefore a better chance of reducing total caloric intake. Combined with insulin control and the fat-burning power of ketosis it's been the best choice _for me_. Your experience may be totally different. Good luck choosing a path to good health!
